1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how edits.gg ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use our platform, where editors post short-form video edits for campaigns and earn from verified views.
2. Information we collect
When you create an account we collect your email address, your username, and any preferences you choose to set, such as the edit styles you select at onboarding.
When you submit an edit we store the public link to the edit, the platform it is posted on, its view counts, its review status, and the earnings associated with it.
When you connect a social media account we store its public handle, its identifier on that platform, its profile picture and its follower or subscriber count, so that we can confirm the account is yours and check it against the minimums a campaign sets. Connecting works by signing in with the platform, and we store the tokens that platform issues us. Sections 4, 5 and 6 set out exactly what those tokens let us read and what they do not let us do. Some TikTok accounts linked before August 2026 were confirmed instead by a short code placed in a public profile, which we read once and did not keep; those links still work, and that route is no longer offered for TikTok. A YouTube channel can still be confirmed that way, as section 5 describes. We never ask for, receive, or store your password to any platform.
When you save a payout destination we store the payout method and handle you provide. When you contact us we store what you send.
To protect the Service from abuse, such as repeated sign-in attempts or form spam, we count events per source using a salted one-way hash. We do not store raw IP addresses in these counters, and they expire within about a day.
3. Platform data we read
We read data from the platforms edits are posted on for three reasons: to confirm that a post belongs to the person claiming it, to count the views an edit is paid on, and to render pages such as a campaign report or the leaderboard.
The two platforms differ, and the difference is worth stating rather than averaging. On YouTube, view counts, channel pictures and video thumbnails are already published by the platform, and we read them through the YouTube Data API using our own API key, whether or not you have connected a channel. On TikTok we read nothing at all unless you have connected your account: TikTok answers us only for posts belonging to the account that granted us permission, so an account that has not signed in with TikTok is an account we hold no platform data for. We do not use any third party to read TikTok on our behalf.
The rest is read with your permission, through the platform's own sign-in, and only after you have granted it on that platform's consent screen. The next two sections say exactly what that covers, platform by platform.
4. Connecting a TikTok account
We use TikTok Login Kit and the TikTok Display API. When you press Sign in with TikTok, TikTok shows you a consent screen listing what you are being asked for, and none of what follows happens unless you agree to it there.
Basic profile access gives us your TikTok account identifier, your display name and your profile picture, which is what lets the Accounts page show you which account is connected rather than a bare identifier. Profile access gives us the link to your public profile, and we take your handle from it. We rely on the handle rather than the display name because a display name can be changed to anything, including somebody else's, and the handle is what money depends on: it is how we know whose post an edit is, and therefore who to pay for it. Statistics access gives us your follower count, which is checked against the minimum a campaign sets before an edit can earn on it.
Video list access gives us your own posts and the figures attached to them, meaning the view count, the like, comment and share counts, the cover image, the title and the date posted. That is the permission your money depends on, so it is worth saying plainly what it is for. We pay per view. Asking TikTok directly for the view count on your own post is how we know the figure we are paying on is the real one, and it is also how we confirm the post is yours, because that API only ever returns posts belonging to the account that granted the permission. We do not read anyone else's posts with it.
If you have not connected TikTok, we cannot read your post at all, and there is no second route: we ask TikTok directly or we ask nobody. That is also why an edit can only be submitted from an account you have connected here.
We do not read which sound a post used. TikTok's API does not report it, so nothing on our side can. A person on our team checks the sound when a campaign and its edits are reviewed.
5. Connecting a YouTube channel
We use YouTube API Services. By connecting a YouTube channel you are also agreeing to the YouTube Terms of Service, and the Google Privacy Policy applies to the information Google handles.
When you connect a channel, Google shows you a consent screen listing what you are being asked for. Read access to your YouTube account gives us your channel and its title, handle, description, profile image and subscriber count, together with the videos you have uploaded and the view, like and comment counts on them. We use the channel identity to confirm the channel is yours, the subscriber count to check the minimum a campaign sets, and the view counts to work out what an edit has earned. Read access to YouTube Analytics gives us day by day view figures and estimated watch time for your channel, which is what a daily performance series on a campaign report is drawn from. Both permissions are read only, and neither allows us to change anything.
You can withdraw that access at any time. Disconnecting the channel on edits.gg deletes the tokens we hold for it and hands the permission back to Google, so edits.gg stops appearing in your Google Account. You can also revoke it yourself at https://myaccount.google.com/permissions, which takes effect immediately and stops us reading anything further. If you want what we already hold removed as well, disconnect the channel here or email us.
Where a channel has not been connected, we read the same public figures any visitor can see, through the YouTube Data API with our own API key. That covers a channel's public description, which is where a short code proving you own the channel is placed, and a video's public view count.
6. What connecting an account does not allow
Connecting an account is read only. We have not asked for and have not been granted permission to post, upload, edit, delete, schedule or comment on anything, on any platform, and we could not do so with the permissions we hold. We do not read your direct messages, your drafts, your private or unlisted videos, or anything belonging to an account other than the one you connected. We never ask for or store your password to any platform.
We do not use what a connected account gives us for advertising, we do not sell it, and we do not pass it to anyone beyond the service providers named in section 9 who run the platform on our behalf. Campaign sponsors see the performance of their own campaign, meaning the edits submitted to it, their public view counts and the handles that posted them, and never your earnings or your payout details.
Information obtained through YouTube API Services is used only for the purposes described in section 5. We do not combine it with information from other sources to build a profile of you, we do not use it to target advertising, and we do not transfer it to anyone for advertising purposes.
7. How we use your information
We use the information described above to operate your account, dashboard, and payouts; to verify edit ownership and prevent fraud; to operate, secure, and improve the Service; and to respond to enquiries. We do not use your information for third-party advertising.
10. Data retention
We keep your account information for as long as your account exists. You can delete your account yourself from the Danger zone at the bottom of Settings in your dashboard, or ask us to at support@edits.gg. Deleting it signs you out and marks the account for removal. For 30 days after that, signing back in restores the account and everything in it, in case you change your mind. After 30 days it can no longer be restored, and we remove the personal information we no longer need. We cannot delete an account while it is still owed money, so a balance has to be paid out first, and the dashboard tells you the figure if that is why it refused. Records of paid submissions are retained as payment records even after an account is deleted, as required for accounting purposes. Security counters expire within about a day.
Where you connected an account by signing in with the platform, we keep the tokens that connection produced for as long as the account stays connected, and we renew them so that reading can continue. A TikTok access token lasts about a day and the token that renews it about a year; a Google access token lasts about an hour and the token that renews it does not expire on its own. They are held in a separate table that only our servers can read, with no access granted to your browser or to anyone else's. Disconnecting the account deletes them along with the record of the connection, and we keep no copy anywhere else.
Figures we read from a connected account, such as the view count on one of your posts, are kept alongside the submission they belong to, because they are the basis on which you were paid, and they are refreshed while the campaign is running.
11. Security
We take reasonable technical measures to protect your information, including access controls on our database, verification of account ownership before payouts, and hashing of sensitive identifiers. No online service can guarantee absolute security. Sign-in is a code sent to your email address, so keep that mailbox secure.
12. The legal bases we rely on
Where the law requires us to name one, these are the reasons we are allowed to handle your information. We handle it to perform our contract with you, which covers running your account, reviewing your edits, calculating what you have earned and paying you. We handle it for our legitimate interests in keeping the platform working and preventing fraud and abuse, which covers rate limiting, checking that an account is genuinely yours and checking that engagement has not been bought. We handle it to comply with the law, which covers keeping records of payments we have made. And we handle it with consent where consent is what applies, which covers a parent or guardian agreeing on behalf of someone under 18.
13. Where your information is held
Our providers operate infrastructure in several countries, so your information may be stored or processed outside the country you live in, including in the United States. Where information is transferred out of the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area, it is done under the standard contractual clauses our providers have in place, which is the mechanism the law provides for that transfer.
14. Your rights and choices
You can update your details, disconnect linked social accounts, change your payout destination and delete your account from your Settings at any time. Section 10 describes what deleting does and the 30 days you have to change your mind. Disconnecting a social account stops new edits from being attributed to it and deletes the tokens we held for it, and for a YouTube channel it also hands the permission back to Google, while records of work already paid for are kept. You can also withdraw a connection from the platform itself: for a YouTube channel at https://myaccount.google.com/permissions, and for a TikTok account from the app permissions screen in your TikTok settings.
Depending on where you live you also have legal rights over your information. In the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area those are the rights to access it, to have it corrected, to have it erased, to restrict or object to how we handle it, to receive a copy of it in a portable form, and to withdraw consent where consent is what we relied on. In Australia they are the rights to access and correct it. In some United States jurisdictions they include the right to know, to delete, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information in that sense, so there is nothing there to opt out of.
To exercise any of them, email support@edits.gg. We will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with how we have handled a request you can complain to your local data protection authority, and in Australia to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
15. What we do not collect
We do not collect government identification of any kind. No passport, no driver licence, no social security or tax file number. We do not collect a date of birth beyond confirming that you meet the minimum age, and we do not hold your card or bank details: payouts go to a PayPal address you save, and PayPal holds everything behind it.
16. Users under 18
The minimum age for an account is 13. If you are under 18, a parent or legal guardian has to agree to our Terms with you, and we handle your information on the basis of their consent. We may ask for confirmation of that consent and may suspend an account until we have it.
Because payouts are made through PayPal, and PayPal requires account holders to be 18 in most countries, the payout destination for anyone under 18 has to be an account their parent or guardian holds. We will not send money to an account that a minor holds in their own name.
A parent or guardian can ask us at any time to show them what we hold about their child, to correct it, to delete it, or to close the account. Email support@edits.gg and we will act on it.
We will not feature a person under 18, their handle or their edit in our own marketing without asking their parent or guardian first, separately from anything they agreed to when they signed up.
17. Children under 13
The Service is not for anyone under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their information. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 13 we will close it and delete what we hold about them. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, contact us and we will deal with it.
18. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time as the Service evolves. The date at the top of this page reflects the latest revision. Material changes will be reflected here before they take effect.
