How editors get paid

Pick a campaign, post an edit from the account you already run, and earn for the views it gets. Here is the whole thing, step by step.

  1. 01

    Pick a campaign

Every one shows its rate up front.

Every campaign on Explore states its rate before you start, as an amount per 1M views, along with the budget behind it and the rules an edit has to meet. Nothing is held back until after you have posted.

There is no application and no interview. You do not pitch for a campaign, you just start posting to it.

We set no follower minimum of our own. An individual campaign can ask for one, and when it does the brief says so.

  2. 02

    Post your edit

Wherever the campaign runs. Your style.

Connect the account you post from with Sign in with TikTok. That link is read only: it covers your profile, your follower count and your own posts, and it cannot post, message anyone or change anything on your account. Your password never leaves TikTok.

Make the edit your way and post it wherever the campaign runs. The brief sets the rules, not the style.

Then paste the link back here. Your edit is accepted straight away, and it starts earning once it is six hours old.

  3. 03

    Get paid per view

    Every view counts.

View counts come from TikTok's own API over the read only connection you authorised, so nothing is self reported and there is nothing to screenshot. A fresh reading is taken roughly every six hours.

The rate is locked to your edit at the moment you submit it. If the brand raises or lowers the rate later, that applies to edits posted after the change, never to yours.

Your edit keeps counting until the campaign ends, not for a fixed window after you post. An edit posted on day one of a month long campaign is still earning in week four.

  4. 04

    Get your money out

Earnings unlock when the campaign finishes.

Money from a campaign that is still running shows as locked. Views are still moving, so the figure is not final yet.

When a campaign finishes, a person reads every edit on it against the brief. Anything that broke the brief earns nothing and costs the brand nothing. Everything else is released into your balance and you are emailed.

Withdrawals are not open yet. Your balance keeps building in the meantime, and linking PayPal now means there is nothing to do when they open.

One condition after you are paid: the post stays up, and stays as posted, for 30 days.

Common questions

Do I need a certain number of followers?

We set no minimum. An individual campaign can ask for one, and its brief says so before you start.

What does linking my TikTok account actually give you?

Read access to your profile, your follower count and your own posts. We cannot post, message anyone or change your profile, and your password stays on TikTok.

When does an edit start earning?

It is accepted straight away and starts earning once it is six hours old.

Can one post earn on two campaigns?

No. A post can only ever be submitted to one campaign, however the link is written.

What happens if my edit breaks the brief?

It earns nothing and the brand is not charged for it. A reason is given where there is one to give.
